Fig Jam

Ingredients:

2 cups

Früt frozen figs

1/2 cup

granulated sugar

2 tablespoons

lemon juice

1/2 cup

water

Method:

Step 1:

Combine Ingredients:

In a saucepan, combine the frozen figs, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and water.
Cook on Low Heat:

Place the saucepan over low heat and stir to dissolve the sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 2:

Simmer and Stir:

Let the fig mixture simmer gently for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. As the figs cook, they will soften and release their natural pectin, which thickens the jam.
Test for Consistency:

To check the consistency, place a small amount of the jam on a chilled plate and let it cool for a minute. Run your finger through it; if it wrinkles and holds its shape, it's ready. If not, continue simmering and test again after a few minutes.

Step 3:

Cool and Store:

Once the jam reaches your desired consistency, remove it from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
Blend (Optional):

If you prefer a smoother jam, you can use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree the mixture until it reaches your desired texture.

Step 4:

Transfer to Jars:

Pour the fig jam into clean, sterilized jars. Leave some headspace at the top of each jar to allow for expansion during freezing.
Cool Completely:

Allow the jam to cool completely before sealing the jars.
Freeze:

Label the jars with the date and contents, then place them in the freezer. Frozen fig jam can be stored for up to a year.
